Here is a delivery story from Nairobi that sounds a lot like a normal Tuesday in Uyo: people want lunch sorted fast, and more of them want to order by simply typing what they want. According to Khusoko (24 October 2026), Glovo Kenya told merchants at its first Future of Commerce Summit that breakfast and lunch are its fastest-growing meal occasions — and that orders starting inside AI chat assistants convert better than orders started in its app. 💬🍲

What happened in Nairobi
Khusoko reports that Glovo Kenya’s Country Managing Director, Caroline Mutuku, spoke at the summit in Nairobi. Among the points reported:
- Growth: the value of goods sold on the platform grew about 40% a year and order volume grew 33%, according to the company.
- Breakfast and lunch grew fastest among meal occasions, with customers searching from 6:30am. She asked restaurant partners to consider opening an hour earlier.
- Outer estates are growing fastest, not just the higher-income central areas — with more restaurant and grocery partners needed there.
- Beyond food: searches for baby products, beauty and small electronics rose fastest between January and September 2026.
- Chat ordering: Glovo launched a shopping assistant for ChatGPT and Claude in July 2026, and Mutuku said orders that begin in an AI assistant convert at 41%, against 33% inside the app. Khusoko notes the data covers a short period.
The report also notes that Uber agreed in July 2026 to acquire Glovo’s parent Delivery Hero, subject to approvals.
To be clear: iDeliver is not part of this story and has no partnership with Glovo, Uber or any company mentioned. We are sharing it because of what it says about how people like to order.
Why an Uyo reader should care
Three things in this story already describe life in Uyo:
- Lunch is the big moment. Office desks on Nwaniba Road, traders at Itam, UNIUYO students between lectures — the midday hunger is real and nobody wants to lose 40 minutes looking for food.
- Typing beats tapping through menus. If people in Nairobi convert better when they just say what they want in a chat, it makes sense that so many Uyo customers prefer to send one WhatsApp message: “rice and chicken, one water, deliver to my office.”
- It is not only food. Once delivery works for lunch, people use it for the other everyday things too — groceries, gadgets, errands.
Ordering by chat is already how iDeliver works
You do not need to link any assistant or learn a new app. iDeliver’s WhatsApp AI at wa.me/2349134448523 lets you say hello and type your order the way you talk. It helps you pick a restaurant or store, confirm your address and place the order. Prefer Telegram? The same idea works on our Telegram AI. And if you like to browse, the iDeliver app has Meals, Groceries, Gadgets and Anything in one place.
