Good morning, Uyo! 🚚 Here’s a logistics story worth two minutes of your Tuesday. BusinessDay reported on 2 November 2026 that Nigerian Sinotrucks Limited, a distributor of China’s Sinotruk commercial vehicles, has introduced Sitrak electric trucks into the Nigerian market — aimed at manufacturers and distributors who move goods around our cities every day. Big trucks, small lesson: the cost of moving things shapes the cost of the things we buy. And in Uyo today, you can make the “moving” part easy — order lunch or groceries, or send a local parcel, in one message.

What happened
According to BusinessDay’s report by Juliet Onyema, the company is turning to electric commercial vehicles as rising fuel and distribution costs squeeze Nigerian businesses. Here’s the fair gist:
- Who it’s for: manufacturers, fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) producers and distributors with regular urban delivery routes — factories, warehouses, retail outlets and distribution centres.
- Start small, in the city: the first rollout focuses on light electric trucks for intra-city distribution, with medium-duty trucks for regional routes planned as market conditions and charging infrastructure improve. The company said the light trucks can cover up to 200 km a day.
- The cost argument: founder and MD Alfred Okugbeni said customers using the company’s CNG trucks have seen fuel savings of 30–35%, and he projected that electric vehicles could cut fleet operating expenses by a further 40–50%. Those are the company’s own figures and projections, not independent results.
- Charging plan: the pitch is that factories can charge trucks overnight and send them out by day, reducing dependence on public charging stations.
- Bigger picture: the company also spoke about local vehicle assembly, technical training and developing local component suppliers.
iDeliver isn’t part of this story — we simply think it’s a useful window into how goods move in Nigeria.
Why this matters in Uyo
Okugbeni’s main point was simple: transport is a major part of what it costs to distribute goods, and that eventually shows up in the price we pay. Whether it’s a truck carrying cartons of noodles to a warehouse or a rider bringing your lunch to Nwaniba Road, every trip has a cost — fuel, time, traffic and distance.
That’s why, on iDeliver, we keep the delivery part visible. You see your food or item cost and your delivery fee before you confirm, and fares are worked out by zone and distance rather than guessed at the gate. No “oga, add something” when the rider arrives.
And there’s a smart habit hiding in the story: the trucks are planned around predictable routes. You can do the same at home — fewer, better-planned trips save money and stress.
Your Uyo move today: one order instead of three trips
Instead of driving to the buka, then the supermarket, then across town to drop a parcel — let one message handle it:
- Open WhatsApp and send “hello” to wa.me/2349134448523, or open the iDeliver app.
- Order Tuesday lunch under Meals — jollof, fried rice, swallow and soup, whatever your office is craving.
- Add tonight’s groceries — rice, oil, eggs, tomatoes, drinks — so the evening cooking is already sorted.
- Send a local parcel — documents, a package for a customer, or something for family across Uyo — and track it live, with OTP handoff when required.
- Confirm after you’ve seen the total. Pay with wallet, card, or cash on delivery where available.
At eligible stores, iDeliver Prime members get free delivery.
