A new delivery story out of Lagos business press is really about something every Uyo shop owner knows: if your customers order online, your delivery has to be fast, visible and fair. According to BusinessAm (27 October 2026), inDrive is pushing its inDrive.Couriers service at Nigerian small and medium-sized businesses — and says its own study found Nigerian small business owners fulfil an average of 86% of their monthly orders through apps. 📦🏍️

What happened
BusinessAm’s Onome Amuge reports that inDrive is positioning its courier service for SMEs selling things like fashion, cosmetics, food and pharmaceuticals. The points reported include:
- Apps are now the main channel: the company’s study says Nigerian small business owners fulfil an average of 86% of monthly orders through apps.
- Same-day by bike or car: merchants can arrange same-day shipments by motorcycle or car and choose verified couriers based on ratings.
- Propose your own price: inDrive’s model lets businesses suggest what they are willing to pay rather than relying only on fixed prices.
- Tracking and cover: real-time parcel tracking from pickup to drop-off, plus automatic parcel coverage of up to ₦50,000 per order if an item is lost or damaged, according to the company.
Country manager Timothy Oladimeji said small businesses need delivery that is “convenient, affordable, and flexible enough to meet their day-to-day needs.” BusinessAm also notes that the real benefit depends on order volumes and costs — and that higher-value goods may need more cover than the stated ceiling.
To be clear: iDeliver is not part of this story and has no partnership with inDrive. We are sharing it because of what it says about how Nigerian businesses and customers now move things.
Why an Uyo reader should care
Whether you sell shoes on Instagram, run a small kitchen from home, or just need to send something across town, the lessons in this story apply on Ikot Ekpene Road, Aka Road and Nwaniba too:
- The sale is not finished until the item arrives. If your customer waits all day with no update, they won’t order again.
- Visibility matters. “Where is the rider?” should be answered by a map, not ten phone calls.
- Price should be clear before you book. Nobody likes arguing about fares at the gate.
How sending a parcel works on iDeliver
On iDeliver you don’t need a contract or your own riders to move a package around Uyo. You open the iDeliver app (or message our WhatsApp AI), enter pickup and drop-off, and see the fare before you confirm. A rider is assigned, you and your customer can follow the trip on the live map, and an OTP at handoff helps make sure the parcel reaches the right person.
Running a store with regular orders? The merchant dashboard is built for businesses that dispatch every day, with zone-aware fares and tracking links for customers.
Three habits that make a parcel go smoothly
- Drop a clear pin and a landmark. “Blue gate after the pharmacy” beats “you’ll see it.”
- Share the tracking with the receiver so they are at the gate when the rider arrives.
- Pack it well. Seal the bag, label the name and phone number, and tell us if it is fragile.
These small things save time on both ends — and they are exactly what keeps your customers coming back.
Your Uyo action today: send that parcel or order what you need
- Book a local parcel now: that dress a customer paid for, documents for a client, a food flask for family across town. Open WhatsApp, message wa.me/2349134448523, and type: “Send a parcel from Ewet Housing to Itu Road today.”
- Or order for yourself: Meals, Groceries, Gadgets and Anything errands are in the same app. Lunch at the office? Restock at home? It is one tap away.
You see the price before you confirm. At eligible stores, iDeliver Prime gives you free delivery.
The bottom line
Nigerian businesses are running on apps, and delivery is now part of the customer experience, not an afterthought. In Uyo, you can act on that today: book your local parcel on iDeliver, share the tracking with your customer, and get back to selling. 🧡
